Gold leaf

The statement of gold and my love for Oscar De La Renta has made me appreciate this piece of sculptured, wearable art. I'm sure I would glisten in gold wearing this piece at the next big event whilst others went green with envy... but for now it's all love and GOLD!

You Look Lovely Today

The sun was out, the air was crisp and the market stalls were finishing to set up. Maybe I got there a little early, so time for a coffee around the corner and time to soak up the warmth from the sun.

A day at the markets searching for the next great wardrobe addition. To hold all my goodies, I took my canvas tote with 'You Look Lovely Today' printed on the side. And yes, through my sunglasses I saw a few people wearing a smile as they read it. If i can spread a smile, I will...

This piece is my must have for a trip to the markets!

UNIQUENESS 1.02 by Alessandra Facchinetti

My current love for all things with a citrus cest of lime has made me find UNIQUENESS by Alessandra Facchinetti. Prints, texture and detailling have created a mystical depth to the designers collection. There is a sense of calm distinction in Facchinetti's pieces. The more I look at the images and beautiful garments, the more I fall in love.

Chanel Cruise Collection

Welcome to the world of  C H A N E L. Blue skies, water features and small tents mounted to shade you during a fantasy of feminity and androgenous becoming one in Versailles.

Symmetrical burst of colour

These ladies were spotted outside the Lisa Ho showing at the Art Gallery of NSW. The sun was shining and the natural light was illuminating the colours. I have tracked down the dress. The piece that I wish I was wearing that day at fashion week too. Maybe not on the same day, together as that would be a fashion nightmare, to be seen in the same dress at the same event. The mirroring image creates a symmetrical burst of colour. It's beautiful! It's the McQ by Alexander McQueen moulded torso dress and you can get it here.

Reflecting the views

These reflective shoes saw the Sydney Harbour from multiple angles during Australian Fashion Week. With a unique buckle and a heel in the same tonal variation we've seen the addition of elegance to the crisp white leather sandal. These spotted twice during the week, once in the white and once in the black with silver. I wonder where you would wear these heels?

It's Luxury Detail

If attention to detail and highest quality craftsmanship is what your after. I've found B R I K K and do they have attention to detail? With a pendant that houses a fully functional Swiss made skeleton mechanical watch movement, suspended between two pieces of sapphire glass. It's all luxury detail.
The brand donates a metric tonne of rice for every piece sold. With this strong ethical standard, technically if I buy something... I'm helping too! It's great to see brands adopting this approach and giving back to people in need. World hunger is still an issue even with todays worldwide communications and opportunities to help, so we all can take a little something from B R I K K even if its not a purchase of an amazing pendant.  The collection extends beyond pendants, with rings and deluxe phone cases. It's all luxury! xx

Bold colour and symmetrical prints

Bold colour and symmetrical prints worn at Australian Fashion Week. It's quite a fun look that evokes happiness from those around. Online window shopping and I found the skirt, Is it time to put my own twist to the look? Only time will tell...

Photographic Style

British artist, Gemma Land has created her second collection of silk scarves with photographic prints. A series of monochrome and colour prints of London’s much-loved'Strawberry Hill' House. Im quite excited to be writing about this artist as her design style is quite rare, unique and contemporary. The exclusive, romantic and symmetrical designs often create beautiful hallucinogenic patterns. By fusing her art of photography with the functionality of a scarf, she has created a coveted brand, often selling out of stock.

With the collection now available in Australia. I will be visiting The Corner Shop, Sydney very soon.

It's Gold, It's Bold

My love of Gold and statement jewelery pieces has allowed me to find unique key pieces to create any style. I recently came across a trend piece in Vogue which I knew I could pull together. With Arizona Muse sporting the look, she seemed so effortlessly styled. I knew I would need to make the look my own.

The leather hat, yes I have one.  The gold ram skull... Luckily enough I recieved one from the lovely girls at  London Threads

An Afternoon Surrounded With Luxury Bags

The breeze, the bayside view and the bags.

I stopped by Reebonz Australian HQ to discover gold and silver hardware, leather and the beautiful craftmanship of my favourite designers. It was my mini bag heaven, like a preview of things coming from Reebonz. We were greeted by the lovely staff with a fortune cookie, I had a feeling it would say "If you like it, It should be yours", but insead it was a kind hearted promotion offering a discount on any purchase you made instore that day. Oooh Fun! But this was dangerous, it was the last day of Australian Fashion Week and the credit card was not well preserved during the coveted runway shows. From the Balenciaga motorcycle bags, Chanel, Fendi, Prada and Celine leather goods they had all my needs covered.

As I wandered around the room, I kept coming back to these luxury leather goods and posed in front of the mirror. Visualising how good they would look that afternoon on my arm at fashion week. The tan, white and black leather Fendi with silver hardware or the red Celine with long strap and gold hardware. Lady-like or a fun punch of colour?

If you cannot make it to the Reebonz HQ. This bag is available here

I left them in the store with a doctors dianogsis of Bag Envy conflicting with the happiness about the beautifully kind hearted Reebonz staff and amazing range of leather goods. With another fashion week to be on the horizon these items will definately stay on my mind.

Erdem

Some embroidery to make you stand out in the crowd. This Erdem dress is 360 degrees of elegant fun, with contrasting red emboidered flowers and cascading fabric.

Strike a Pose

Post Australian Fashion Week, I have found myself to be people watching as they do in France. It must have been all those covetable designer pieces I had been eyeing all week. But whether I'm sitting with a coffee in hand or waiting in line, there is some very stylish people on our streets.

And this is the outcome minus the SLR (I must get more prepared for these spontaneous photo opportunities)...

A Ksubi edge with these great sunglasses spotted in Darlinghurst.

Q & A London Threads

London Threads is the work of best friends and now business partners, Kate Mulconroy and Angela Edwards. I came across this online boutique, selling products to their homeland of New Zealand and neighbours Australia, as they wanted "to offer girls back home the chance to access these unique products." These unique products sourced from markets across London and beyond are an eclectic mix of owners, Kate Mulconroy and Angela Edwards style. With the new role the girls share, they tell about their journey of living abroad, love of London and the London Thread story.

Living abroad in London must be exciting for you both…
Kate Mulconroy Yes it’s such an amazing experience to be living in a city like London.
Angela Edwards  It is just such an exciting city to be part of.

When you moved to London 4 years ago, did you both intend on staying there?
Kate Mulconroy I planned on living overseas for at least 3 years and it just keeps getting extended!
Angela Edwards Yes and now that we have started London Threads we will be here for a while!

When did you girls start London Threads?
Kate Mulconroy – We launched late last year
Angela Edwards – We wanted London Threads to be ready just in time for the NZ summer!

Where are your favourite places to shop in London?
Kate Mulconroy That’s a tough one there are just so many amazing places to shop! Definitely at the markets, for unique and local designers. We go most weekends.
Angela Edwards There are also some incredible independent boutiques popping up all over the city. We often visit these as well to find new pieces

You stock a great range of jewellery and accessories; Do you both share the buying of items for the online store?
Kate Mulconroy Yes we often shop together to pick out new designs. It makes for a pretty fun job.
Angela Edwards Yes the jewellery lines are so gorgeous! We stock quite a wide variety to suit different tastes. So we have pieces like the sweet girly charms but then also statement items such as the animal rings.

You have purchased beautiful pieces London for London threads. What’s your favourite thing about London?
Kate Mulconroy  There us just so much choice in everything here…no matter what your tastes are in music, fashion, culture or food, London has it covered.
